Revolutionizing Agriculture: Kenya’s iProcure Expands Operations in Tanzania

Date:

iProcure, a data-driven agricultural input supply company based in Kenya, is expanding its operations into Tanzania through a strategic partnership with the Farm to Market Alliance (FtMA). The move aims to enhance agricultural supply chains and improve access to essential inputs for farmers in Tanzania.

iProcure, known for its proprietary distribution technology system, has established a robust distribution infrastructure that connects major agricultural input suppliers with local agro-dealers. By eliminating intermediaries and utilizing technology-driven insights, iProcure ensures the availability and timely delivery of critical agricultural inputs, such as fertilizers and seeds, at discounted prices.

Expanding to Tanzania through FtMA

iProcure’s expansion into Tanzania is facilitated by its partnership with the Farm to Market Alliance (FtMA), a consortium of public and private institutions focused on empowering smallholder farmers and enhancing commercial viability across the agricultural value chain. FtMA operates through Farmer Service Centres (FSCs), which provide essential services to farmers, including access to quality inputs, advisory information, financing options, and market connections.

Through the collaboration, iProcure will deploy its supply-chain tracking technology and business management software solutions to 100 Tanzanian agro-dealers, boosting their operational efficiency and supply traceability. The partnership aims to extend iProcure’s solutions to 100 FtMA Farmer Service Centres by November 2023. This joint effort will enhance access to supplies and services for over 125,000 farmers in Tanzania.

Positive Outlook for the Partnership

Niraj Varia, CEO of iProcure, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership with FtMA, highlighting the shared vision of digitizing agriculture and improving supply chains. The collaboration allows iProcure to leverage FtMA’s established network of agro-dealers and expand its technology-driven solutions into the Tanzanian market.

Mads Lofvall, managing director of FtMA, emphasized the organization’s commitment to bridging the gap between service delivery and market access at the first and last mile. Digitalizing the operations of Farmer Service Centres through the partnership with iProcure is expected to bring substantial benefits to both FSCs and farmers.

This expansion into Tanzania marks a significant milestone for iProcure as it continues to revolutionize the agricultural input supply chain through its innovative technology solutions. By streamlining operations and improving access to vital resources, the partnership between iProcure and FtMA aims to drive sustainable growth and increased productivity in Tanzania
