EAST Africa’s highly anticipated Hip Hop Festival is set to begin tomorrow in Dar es Salaam, showcasing the immense talents of artists from the region. The annual event, held at Alliance Française in the City, will serve as a platform for artists to demonstrate their skills in rap, breakdance, graffiti art, Beat Boxing, and DJing.

Promoting Hip Hop Culture in Tanzania

Matei Babu, the manager of HipHip Asili Festival, expressed his excitement for the celebration of Hip Hop culture in Tanzania. He emphasized that the festival provides an ideal avenue for artists to showcase their talents, while also highlighting the fact that this is the first International Hip Hop Festival in East Africa. The festival, which started three years ago, continues to grow in popularity and importance.

For Tanzanian Hip Hop artist Young Lunya, this event has been long-awaited. “So this is a right forum and perhaps biggest in the region which has been organized in consideration of Hip Hop foundations,” he said. The festival serves as a vital platform for artists to connect with the foundations of Hip Hop аnd showcase their work to a wider audience.

The Hip Hop Festival aims to empower young people to engage their skills in a way that uplifts their communities. Through this event, artists have the opportunity to not only showcase their talents but also improve their knowledge of the music industry.
